4- he paid off his gambling debts and can't afford the gas to get to work

The One Solo:When someone on the show steps away, lets take Artie for example, or Stuttering John, they will say, "Artie is in LA" or they will say "Stuttering John is on some reality show with B level celebrities." Anytime that is not said, it would seem that it is something of a personal and or embarassing nature. In the past, it has come out that KC has many problems, and some of those problems are mental problems. He has supposedly already taken care of his gambling problem, but I'm sure his mental problems need some work still. So he is probably in a mental hostipal, and since that is such a delicate matter, they don't want to bring that up, cause then when he returns, people talking about it, may cause the same problems to come back up. Howard seems to be very sensitive to his staffs needs, esepecially if they are series issues like mental health, and he does what he has to do to protect him. When he gets back Howard will say "So KC, how was your vaction" on the air, for the effect of misdirection, but some of us will have other ideas to what kind of vaction he really had.

Thanks everyone for the respones, especially the one from the lovely Pond...my sentiments exactly. The good news is KC is still alive and well...ah...I'm not so sure about well and I'm not so sure what is going on with him and the show, but apparently you can still catch him on the comedy circuit. Next stop:
