"The Fanatic" by IAMSTERNFAN

Wow...

Over 20 years, and the show is now officially off regular radio...

I guess nothing lasts forever, especially in this day and age. It's hard to believe though that less than 48 hours ago, the Howard Stern Show as we know it went off the air for the very last time. That's right, and in case you've been living under a rock for the last two years, you knew it was coming. It went out like we all expected it would, "with a bang"! Jackie Martling, John The Stutterer and even former New York Mayor Ed Kotch made appearances during the final week of the show.

It was truly an amazing week of radio...

There really isn't much else I can say that hasn't already been said across the net. It was the greatest radio show of all time and it looks to continue that legacy over at Sirius...

Some of us will not be going over to Sirius for various reasons. Either the radios are too much for some, or the idea of having to pay to listen to a show you used to listen to for free may deter some people from switching over. I think the fans showed their true colors however when they showed up to the rally and showed their support for the show and everything it stands for. Thousands of fans came out to pay respects to the man and the show that they've been listening to for the last 20 + years. Why? Because Howard Stern is more than just your average disc jockey. He stands up for what he believes in, he fights to uphold the constitution and all that it stands for and most of all, he's honest. Howard Stern won't bullshit you when you ask him a question. He always gives his fans a straight answer. That's what was so great about the show is that you knew you were hearing the truth. You always knew that if they were talking about important news stories that they would give their honest opinions and do their best to not only entertain, but inform their audience. I guess when it comes right down to it, The Howard Stern Show really was the last of a dying breed...

It was also end of an era, and the end of great, free radio...
