Looking for an old but very powerful Starmate (ST1R)

I know where there are about 2,000 of them.

I have been having troubles with my old Starmate, the power jack inside the unit had to be soldered a few times, and the last time I took it to the shop the dude said it had reached the end of the line, the piece totally fall apart. I needed to get a new part or a new unit somewhere, but where? Radioshack was no help, the local Stereo shop was no help, TSS radio was no help, and Sirius was no help (they don't sell the old Starmates or the parts for them) hmm....

I turned to ebay where I found an auction for an "as is" Starmate, buy it now from recycledgoods.com for $14. I could buy it, get the part I need, repair my player, back in business. Done deal pal.

My purchase arrived in the mail today and I swear it looks brand spanking new. Gave Dave from recycled.com a quick call and asked if there was any chance this thing actually works. He told me that over 90% of his "as is" units work. Called Sirius, activated the unit in less than a minute......and all is right with the world.

If you need a long FM transmission these old Starmates are the way to go. Check out ebay for the cheapest price or give recycled.com a call at (805)644-3100. This company gets the Howardshrine stamp of approval.

Crazy Cabbie Digs Up Audio of Stern 'OKing' Studio Porn

Crazy Cabbie Digs Up Audio of Stern 'OKing' Studio Porn
Sent to Him by Canadian Fan
By Peter Warren

Posted: 1:44 PM PST Feb 06, 2008

NEW YORK - "Howard Stern Show" personality Crazy Cabbie has dug up an audio clip of Stern giving him on-air approval to shoot a porn movie in his studio in 2001.

Or at least that's the way Cabbie perceives it.

"You want to film a porno in my studio?" Stern asks in the clip. "Yeah, I'd let you do that. I don't think [Tom] Chiusano [station manager at New York's K-Rock] will let it. You could do the foreplay and stuff here, and then go shoot the rest in a hotel."

Whether the germophobic Stern truly approved of the unhygienic antics or not, Cabbie went ahead and shot the explicit footage with porn stars Ron Jeremy, Taylor Wane, Tabitha Stevens, Christi Lake and others. The very existence of the footage was questioned until Jeremy documented the production in his autobiography, "Ron Jeremy: The Hardest (Working) Man in Showbiz" last year.

Cabbie told AVN the audio clip was sent to him by a fan in Canada who has every broadcast of "The Howard Stern Show" recorded and archived. And as far as Cabbie is concerned, it confirms Stern's blessing on the project.

"He gave permission," Cabbie said. "That's all I need. I mean, foreplay for one man is penetration for another.

"[The clip's source] actually approached me," he continued, "and said, 'Hey, I have this audio - remember everybody says Howard never said you could shoot a porn in his studio? Here it is.' And I'm putting it out there. The audio doesn't lie. It's pretty fuckin' straightforward, those are his words."

Cabbie is currently shopping the infamous Stern studio porn vid to adult distributors. He told AVN that he has spoken with Red Light District's David Joseph and Teravision's Evan Seinfeld about selling the footage to them, and both are interested, but they "want to run it by their legal departments, which I understand completely."

Neither Joseph nor Seinfeld could immediately be reached for comment on their interest in the movie.

Send Lawyers, Guns, and Money

Run for de hills!!!

Stern fan board wars take nasty turn with talks of slander, cease and desist letters, and threats of lawsuits. More as this story unfolds. Remember you heard these vague comments hear first from Shrine 100 News, and not from that lame Steve horsecock Langford and his knucklehead team.

Can't we all just get along?

Surrending Spectrum endgame in Sirius-XM merger?

Which pawn is Howard?

----

Orbitcast has learned that the National Association of Broadcaster and Clear Channel have been working toward the ultimate goal of forcing Sirius-XM to surrender spectrum, according to an unnamed source.

According to the source, who agreed to reveal this information under condition of anonymity, the merger opponents have suspected all along that the merger would pass. Their strategy has been to make noise under the guise to block merger, then concede and compromise for a spectrum surrender.

"This has been the end game all along," Orbitcast was told.

Clear Channel's most recent filing further solidifies this theory. It also adds to the suspicion that the delay in coming to a decision over the Sirius-XM merger has been the negotiations on how much spectrum the companies will surrender.

I question the level to which surrendering spectrum would make the entire merger useless - and indeed, that may be the merger-opponents' game plan. As I understand it, surrendering spectrum is a deal breaker. Now, I can see Sirius-XM conceding to a "free to air" requirement - in that a percentage of spectrum is alloted to non-commercial/informational programming that Sirius and XM have no editorial control over (as brilliantly proposed by Gigi Sohn). But to carve out a chunk and divest at will? That seems like a deal breaker to me.

Sternfannetwork Post of the Day!!

From the Howardshrine Mailbag: A bit disappointed (in the Patrick interview)

Doc
Listened with interest to your interview with Patrick I am an average fan who enjoys the show and the various message boards yours included. I was a bit taken back with Patrick's accusations against Mutt, buddy's girl and others. I don't know if they are true but I wish you would have been more prepared. Instead of yessing him to death why not play the devil's advocate? A few questions I would have asked: this Patric, who has no reason to lie. He says Eric and him are doing very well financially so has Eric been liberated from SSI?. What about Eric's girl Kendra and that fishy relationship? I know you could have asked much better questions but you didn't seem interested. Seriously were you to busy eating up the anti Mutt venom? We both know that there are two sides to every issue so why not time pretend you are objective and try to dig past the pretense. Then you would have a real Stern exclusive for the shrine instead of half a story!

Jasper
PS File sharing happens to be a very complex fact of life that some consider criminal but many more consider the wave of the future.Right now it largely unregulated which is why a balanced, objective, debate on its ethics is so needed. Is that something the shrine could possibly take up?

-----

Doc: Thanks for your comments Jasper. You are correct, I wasn't prepared for this interview because, quite frankly, the whole affair doesn't interest me all that much. Board wars are so two years ago. :)

Super Jump by Jon Hein

Jon Hein's Monday-morning Post: Super Jump

Anything can jump the shark, and the Super Bowl is no exception. The four-hour pre game show, the musical performances, the multi-million dollar commercials— Super Sunday has become about everything but the game.

This game is for the championship of the National Football League. It is a football game. Somewhere along way, this simple fact got lost in all the hype.

As I waited on Sunday for the Patriots to battle the Giants, and was forced to endure Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet and a Paula Abdul musical performance, I tried to pinpoint the moment when the Super Bowl jumped the shark and came up with these five reasons:

5) Commercials: There were the classics like Broadway Joe shaving with Noxzema and Mean Joe tossing his jersey. When I was growing up, Super Bowl commercials were an added bonus to the game. The Apple ad for Macintosh in 1984 was legendary, but there was a seismic shift as Super Bowl Sunday ads started to become just as important as the game itself.

4) Two weeks off: The NFL has no one but itself to blame for this one. Two weeks of hype is too much for anyone to take. All the momentum disappears, and all those wacky media stories are more annoying than interesting. Lose the week, please.

3) "I’m Going to Disneyworld!": When Phil Simms exclaimed he was heading to Orlando after winning Super Bowl XXI, it was cute. A few roman numerals later, even the MVP's got tired of saying it.

2) Halftime Shows: I never thought it could get worse than the "Up with People" halftime performances, but it all started to go downhill when Michael Jackson and 3,500 kids appeared at Super Bowl XXVII. There was no turning back from that point. And when 'N Sync, Aerosmith and Britney Spears took the stage, I realized what a sellout the halftime show had become until...

1) Wardrobe Malfunction: Justin Timberlake revealed a little too much of Janet Jackson's chest. The FCC attacked and the game and its halftime show will never be the same again.

Janet’s alleged indecency changed popular culture forever, and it gets my vote for when the Super Bowl finally jumped the shark.

Ironically, this moment has absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of a championship football game.

Howard is Beth's Check Mate by Page Six

Howard is Beth's Check Mate
The latest Howard Stern shock? He's a chess champ.

Sitting in the front row at Nicole Miller's show at New York Fashion Week, the radio host's fiancee Beth Ostrosky told PageSix.com, "He plays chess online on the internet every hour that he's home. I watch him play chess."

We never knew it was a spectator sport!

Then again, the 35-year-old model explained, he's getting pretty good. "He goes on the International Chess Club, which is all over the world. His rating is 1645 right now, which is really good."

And of course, every couple needs some space. "I know that when he plays chess I can do things without being annoyed, so I go shopping or take the dog for a long walk." Sounds like a good time for some wedding planning as well. "I haven't gotten that far yet," Ostrosky said, adding, "It's in October."

and the fall out here

Interview with Artie Lange with the Las Vegas Sun

Q: Has performing in Las Vegas on Super Bowl weekend become a tradition with you?

I get a lot of money for the gigs. I tend to attract the same kind of crowd as what I am — alcoholic losing gamblers. They’re hoping I’ll lose whatever they pay me and get a free show, or maybe even make money on the show. I get quite a bit of money to perform on Super Bowl weekend in Vegas. I’ve been here the last six years in a row.

Do you actually bet on the games or is that just part of your shtick?

I like to bet on most of the games in the playoffs, and as many as I can in the regular season. I’ve bet on every Super Bowl since 1980. This year I like the Giants to cover; they’re getting 12 right now. I like the Giants maybe not to win outright but certainly to cover. I like it with the spread.

But New England seems to have destiny going for it this year.

As a Giants fan, I think it would be great to mess that (bleep) destiny up.

Tell us about the radio show. Are you happy with it?

Creatively, it’s the greatest (bleep) thing ever. There’s nothing we can’t say. It’s uncensored comedy on the radio. It’s unreal.

How is the Sirius listenership? Are the numbers up, down?

When we first signed on (January 2006) there were 700,000 people; now there’s 8 million — so slowly but surely we’re creeping up there. Hopefully we’ll merge with XM and get even bigger.

Does saying anything you want on the air pose a creative challenge?

That’s a challenge for people who might consider themselves talented artists, which I don’t. I welcome the lack of challenge. I like being able to say whatever I want. I think the sentence for an adult is funnier with an “f” word in it here and there — that’s the type of (bleep) I grew up on. I like it better. Is it more of a challenge to be clean and funny? Absolutely. But if adults are paying their money why would I challenge myself like that? I’m going to give them what I can.

How long are you on the air?

Usually five hours, 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. The only thing I hate about it has nothing to do with satellite or regular radio. It’s the time. We do a 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. thing. I’m a comedian by heart. I’m nocturnal. I got the one (bleep) job in comedy that’s like having a paper route. Other than that, it’s great.
